De-stress Yourself From Exam Results

Success in exams is a great milestone in everyone’s life till the end. So, every exam we pass matters and is a big criteria of success and achievements.

According to a recent survey on the passing percentage of students in the board exams, it was found that there was a huge difference in the results of different boards, for instance, in 2017; the Tamil Nadu board had 92.1% while Bihar showed a dismal result of just 35.3% of students passing the 12th board exam. It is surprising to see the huge difference. This shows a lack of uniformity in the curriculum, course, syllabus and question paper setting pattern that the different academic boards are following across the country. As a result, children develop a lot of stress during the time of results. Out of a natural human tendency, parents compare their child’s result with other children, be it in the same state or another state. But is it right to compare children from different academic backgrounds on the same scale?? No, not at all. This creates stress in the children. So there should be uniformity in the overall curriculum, examination pattern and question paper setting throughout the country.

General Reasons Of Poor Result

  • It is generally observed that the basic concepts of children are not clear. Just cramming things can’t help in scoring good marks.
  • Poor presentation in examinations is also a major cause of bad result. Knowing things is not enough but presenting it in the right way is what matters a lot.
  • Lack of practice leads to poor result. Solving previous question papers can prove to be of great help in scoring good marks.
  • Improper sleep during examinations leads to stressful mind. A relaxed mind can perform better during exams. So, it is very important to have proper night sleep.

All those students who have scored good marks, we congratulate you, and for others who find themselves standing below their expectation lines and are facing stress, we have some points to combat stress.

How To Combat Stress

1. Do your best and leave the rest-

This simple but important principle applies over almost everything. Lord Krishna in Shrimad Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 2, verse 47) says as follows-

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन

मा कर्म्फल्हेतुर्भुर मा ते संगोस्त्वकार्मिण

It means “You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action”. This in turn teaches us ‘Surrender’.

2. Acceptance- Learning acceptance is very important. When we learn to accept things as they are, we are able to fight with stress. Moreover, our future actions become better, less affected by the past results.

There are two ways of behaving after facing stress: either we frown at other people, i.e. get irritated and angry and the other is to just be normal or simply smile. The second reaction shows an internal acceptance to the outer circumstances.

3. Face your fears- Our Mentor says, running away from fears is a sign of weakness while facing your fears is a sign of strength. Anyone can take a flight off from a bad situation but courageous is the one who fights the situation. When we face our fears, the fear slowly diminishes out of our mind and also we learn to deal with it the next time it comes to us.

After facing something, it looks so simple, for example, since we start our studies from class 1 till the end, the class we are in, seems to be a big and difficult goal but once we pass out, it seems to be very simple. So at later stages in life, these things will seem to be very simple if we have boldly faced them now.

Important Points About Success

1. Our Mentor says, Success is not only achieving good marks but it is giving your best efforts in doing every task and having an attitude to learn and rise.

2. Successful people were not those who scored highest marks but they are those who have somewhere touched the hearts of other people and brought smiles on their faces. We are well acquainted with the famous scientist Albert Einstein, who in his early years of life was suspended from his school for not being able to understand things and repeatedly failing in examinations and later the world knows he became one of the top Physicists of the world giving a number of useful theories to the world. Now the world remembers him not for his failures but for all those mindful theories he gave to the world.

3. Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss in enthusiasm. Our Mentor says, ‘You fail the day you give up‘. If you are trying, then surely you are heading towards success.

One of the most important point to keep in mind is to add God in everything. Where there is God, there is victory. So, always remember God.

Our Mentor says, when a hard situation comes in our life, our marks do not matter, what helps us during those hard times is our connection with God. Prayer is a nice way to connect to the Almighty. When we pray and surrender unto God, He helps us. It is well said that, “If God be for us, who can be against us”.
